Beauty Tips part Deux: Makeup.

Hello dolls! As promised, it's time to talk makeup.
Yeah, I'm kind of obsessed with makeup. (I'm talking 4 full bags full of the stuff). I even took a class, so don’t worry- you’re in good hands.
Of course, as fun as makeup can be, I tend to settle into a routine every morning. If you're as sleep deprived as I am, you're going to need something that won't take a big chunk of time. I'm looking at you dolls, the ones who try to frantically dab on makeup between sips of coffee or on the way to work. We're one in the same.
So I'm going to show you a quick way to do your daytime makeup- so you can find the best routine for you

First things first, is your skin ready? you definitely don't want to do your makeup over dull or dirty skin. Makeup won't cover up those things- most of the time it'll highlight them.
(pst! if you missed part one-skin care, make sure you check it out!)
Once your skin is ready, the first thing to do is put on some lip balm. Now I'm going to be honest with you, I have a bit of an obsession with lip balm. Here are my favs, as pictured.
Today I'm going to use EOS mint. It's my absolute favorite right now, both because of the sweet tingly mint scent & the adorable packaging. The fact that it hydrates exceptionally doesn't hurt either.
Even though lips are the last step, I put on balm first. By the time you get to your lips the balm will have settled and they'll will be lipstick ready. So balm up, then let's cover.
Wether or not concealer is a daily thing depends on the person. I for one happen to have dark circles, so concealer is an must.  In the battle with my dark circles i've tried a lot of concealers, but Benefit's Boi-ing absolutely takes the cake. The good thing about Boi-ing is that it's good under-eyes and also on spots and  blemishes. Be careful when looking at 'brightening' concealers- the highlighting pigments will actually draw more attention to redness.  Instead, I use Boi-ing it in combination with Eye Bright (the one pictured used to be sold together at Ulta, but I don't think they have it anymore). Eye Bright is a must have for tired eyes.

Dolls, I get asked a lot when concealer should be applied. There really isn't a right or wrong answer- but my recommendation is to dab it on before. Concealer doesn't particularly blend well over foundation. And if you have under-eye troubles like I, then you definitely  want to start off with concealer.
To correct under-eye circles, first dab on Eye Bright in the outer and inner corners (usually the darkest spots). Blend, then cover with Boi-ing & blend again.
Dab a little Boi-ing on any problem spots.
Once we're concealed, it's time to swipe on 'foundation'.
I use the word foundation lightly, because for every day use, heavy foundation is too much for your delicate skin. BareMinerals is perfect for everyday use. It covers well, without ever feeling too heavy. Some assume that they won't like to use powders because they have dry skin- this actually isn't true. (trust me- my skin is severely dry) If you're applying powder over clean, hydrated skin it won't be an issue. In fact, i've found that liquids make dry patches stand out more. A simple guide, if your skin is oily try a cream compact (powders might slide off too easily). Normal to dry skin- stick to a mineral powder.

Once you've got your base on, swipe on some blush starting at the apples of your cheeks (the cute puffy part when you smile) and upwards.
For fall, a coral color is perfect. I'm using The Body Shop's All-in-one blush in Macaroon. The coral color isn't too bright, but highlights the sunny glow you got in the summer.

Now onto the eyes.

For an everyday look, a champagne shadow all over the lid works wonders. In a pinch, you can even leave it at that. Champagne colors compliment and open up your eyes, without looking too made up. I used to swear by Urban Decay's Sin, but at $17 a pop it's a little pricey. Thankfully for you, I scoured the drugstore aisles until I found a PERFECT dupe. Wet n' Wild's "Walking on Eggshells". It even comes with a perfect color for highlighting your eyes!

Another great color, if you're very fair, is Clinique's Champagne (256).  if you're a little darker, The Body Shop's Shimmer Cubes 06 is perfect.

Now that you've got your base shadow, swipe a little bit of a darker color over your crease & blend. Then use the highlighting color over the arch of your brow, and the inner corner of your lid.
Now that you've applied shadow, you want to line the outer corners of your eye with a black kohl liner.   To open up your eye, Apply liner only in the outer corners in a thin line. add a little more to the very end of the corner, and smudge.
Now onto mascara.
Mascara is my biggest obsession- I've tried so many (including the expensive brands). But I always come back to Lash Stiletto.
For a daytime look apply one coat to your top lashes, then use the excess to gently coat the bottom.
Clear mascara is another great thing to have in your bag. It's great for touching up mascara and eyebrows- just swipe some on your eyebrows to tame them.
Now that your eyes are looking bright and gorg, its finally time for lips. The kind of makeup you use now is up to you. Some people aren't very into lipstick, some aren't too into lipgloss, etc etc. A tip to always keep in mind though, is that if you have thin lips use a lighter, shimmery color & if you have fuller lips go with a darker color.
My go-to daytime lip color is my Chubby stick from clinique in Super strawberry.
It's the perfect day time color. It's a subtle shade, it's moisturizing and not too glossy.
Quick Tip: if you make your lips appear fuller, swipe a bit of a light shimmery gloss to the center of your lips, & pucker.
And now darling, you're ready to face the day. It seems like a lot of information, but it only takes me 10 minutes to put on my makeup in the morning. You probably won't even spend as much time as it took you to read this.

Now don't forget to put your lip color, a good balm, and a mirror in your purse. Another thing I never leave the house without, a freshening spray.
It's one of those things I never knew I needed, and now I don't know how I lived without. A quick spray will set your makeup when it's done (perfect if you're planning on going out later), and mid-day it will brighten up and hydrate your skin. My favorite store bought one is The Vitamin C spray from the body shop. it's incredibly refreshing. Of course $16 is a bit much to shell out for a face mist, so I might just have a DIY in the works... (That you might be seeing in the next week..)
You might be a little dewey for a minute.
Voila! Now you're ready to go out and conquer the day.
